Embracing the Unexpected: Reflections on My First Five Days at Aro Ha

Greetings from Glenorchy, New Zealand!

As I embarked on my journey to Aro Ha, I tried to keep an open mind, ready to embrace whatever experiences came my way. But even with the photos, reviews, and accolades in mind, I couldn't have anticipated just how incredible this retreat venue would turn out to be.

It's been a five days since I arrived in my new home away from home, and I'm bursting with reflections and gratitude that I can't wait to share with you all.

First and foremost, what's truly left my heart singing is the people I've had the pleasure of getting to know. Surrounding myself with like-minded, supportive, and heart-centered individuals has had a profound effect on my well-being. In just one short week, I've felt seen, accepted, heard, and embraced by a community that I'm only just beginning to know.

Aro Ha is a vibrant tapestry of cultures, with individuals from all corners of the globe coming together to create an unparalleled retreat experience. Despite the diverse backgrounds, languages, and customs, there's a palpable sense of unity, positivity, and genuine interest in one another and in the retreat they are co-creating.

Community, I've come to realize, is not just important—it's essential for our physical and mental well-being. The support, camaraderie, and shared experiences we find within a community nourish our souls, uplift our spirits, and provide a sense of belonging that is invaluable.

And then, of course, there are the views. Oh, the views! I am working remotely on a couple of jobs while I am here. Every time I look up and catch sight of the majestic mountains that surround me, I'm left breathless by their beauty. Like right now, writing this blog, I see the sun shining over the mountain to my right and sheep grazing in the mountains to my left. Being immersed in nature like this, with the sounds of the wilderness as my soundtrack, has created a space for me to connect deeply with myself and with the profound beauty of the universe. I find myself pausing and thanking God constantly as a I fully embody the depth of being here.

Stepping into Aro Ha feels like stepping into a place that exemplifies key elements of life that I value, and want to live by, fully awake and aware. I wish this for everyone. I hope this is what you, dear reader, can experience in your life as well. I hope you have a supportive place with the food you love, the views you crave, the community you need, and space to allow your heart to sing its unique song.

Until next time, with love & light,

Kat
